The Heritage of Bagru and Dabu Hand-Block Printing
Rooted in the soil of Rajasthan, our collection celebrates the labor-intensive artistry of Bagru and Dabu hand-block printing. Unlike mass-produced textiles, every handblock print kurta set in our archive is a testament to the Chhipa community's 500-year-old legacy. In the village of Bagru, master artisans use hand-carved wooden blocks to print intricate motifs using natural dyes like indigo, madder, and iron.
Our specialty lies in Dabu printing, a rare mud-resist technique originating from Akola. This soulful process involves applying a thick paste of clay, gawar gum, and sawdust to the fabric before it is submerged in deep indigo vats. The result is a unique, organic "cracked" texture that cannot be replicated by machines. Whether you are looking for a pure cotton kurta set online in India for work or a breathable handloom kurta for women for travel, our pieces offer a "slow fashion" alternative to the high street. Each garment is designed for the modern woman who values conscious buying and Indian craft heritage. By choosing Kantha India, you support a solo-founder initiative dedicated to preserving authentic artisanal techniques and providing a dignified livelihood to rural craftspeople.
